    EVGA's Step-Up Programme

Just wondered if anyone else has anymore details about this aprt from this link?

Does it apply to only a certain country (say US) or does it work over here too?

    http://www.evga.com/stepup/default.asp?switch=3

I was thinking of just getting an EVGA 8800 GTS 640mb which is just under £300 and when the 8900s are released, step up to that and pay the difference.

    Rig2: Abit IN9 32X-MAX WiFi NF680i, Intel Core2Duo e6600 Conroe, 2Gb Gskill HZ PC6400, 640MB EVGA 8800GTS, Enermax Galaxy 1Kw, Soundblaster XFI, Lian Li G70, 2x750Gb Seagates, 2x250Gb Samsung Spinpoints, 2x320Gb Seagates, Aquacomputer watercooled, 2xBelinea 102035w 20.1" LCD[/SIZE]

You can get a GTX for 335, from lowestonweb, though there not in stock atm. Much better idea, than spending just under 300 on a GTS.

Im pretty sure the step up thing works here as well.

ye i noticed on LOW but the step up program only applies to EVGA specific cards.. it won't work if you have.. say a XFX or Gainward Card

    before i start...nice rig

It is avaliable in this country as far as I know.. It was offered to me with my 7900 gtx.

Swings and roundabouts with it though..you can always buy a cheaper card and then sell it to fund the purchase of a new card.

8900 GTX's are probably gonna be seriously expensive so you might not want to pay the extra for the upgrade.

Assuming they get more in LOW have the GTX at 335 as you say but they also have the GTS at £225 which is a good price...and you'll probably be able to sell that for near enough the same price in a couple of months.

They are £260 - £280 everywhere else remember.

I emailed EVGA regarding this earlier in the week, I have yet to have a reply.

They have an office here in the UK so it would be good if you can send the card back to a UK address rather than over to america.

The step up programme is available in the UK, i know someone who stepped up from a 7900gt to an 8800gtx and all he had to pay was the postage. Not bad at all.

Do you mean 7900GTX? because thats not right, as the 8800GTX is the top of the line card, and the 7900GT wasn't.

I Stepped up from a 7800gt to 7900gt co. They give you a ref number and bank account to pay the money into, you send your card to Germany, and they send you your step up card.

    Hope it goes well

This is just my guess but probably he had to return defected 7900GTs many times and finally got very generous offer from EVGA? According to guru3d forum, EVGA does seem to do this sort of stuff, sometimes.

Yes you buy the new card of Evga.

If you look in your profile /Evga account, it lets you know if you can step up and it ask how much you paid for your card and on that basis offers you diff price for each card in they are currently making. Some cards are worth paying the extra for while some are not.

    Hope this helps.

From what he told me he got sent an 8800GTX in return of his 7900GT, whether they cocked up somewhere along the lines or he hasn`t quite told me the full story i do not know.

There are diff spec cards offered to you on step up, with prices to match. He would have paid more for the GTX.
