    Help me decide!

    Hi

I currently have an x800xt. I have been checking out the recent graphics cards, and I am pretty tempted to get an 8800gts.

But the thing is, I don't really need one as such. I play the occasional game, mainly FPS games like HL2. My monitor can take a max resolution of 1280x1024.

So should I just go for it and buy a new card, or wait until something better comes along?

Pretty well. Almost max settings on everything. But I am about to buy supreme commander as well.

I thought supreme commander was much more processor demanding than graphics card demanding so your card should run it fine. Only upgrade if there are games where the card is really struggling.

If youve got the money splash out, but most of us live in the real world where the best part of £200 is a fair amount of money.

If you want a card now THAT is the very best for the money. You will be waiting a while though they sell out quickly.

Personally if i where u i would wait. The 8900xx 8600xx are around the corner, as is ATIs counterpart so if you can manage for now its maybe best to hang on and see how things pan out

You have the system for a better card, Supreme Commander is demanding, but a faster card will run it a lot better for sure.

Thanks for the replies guys. What monitor would you recommend for around £200(if that is a realistic price?)

Or get another monitor and dual screen (dont know if ur card has dual outputs?) supreme commander utilises dual screens and looks sweet.

How about waiting a little bit to get a lower priced Dx10 card that will be coming soon. Theyl obviosly run games pretty well, but sieng as you say you dont play games as much, waiting to get a lower spec card for cheaper may seem like a better idea IMO. something like an 8600GS or 8300

And yeah, go for a 20" monitor too

    Went for this one

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=534301

    On Today Only - £198.58.

Thing is though, my graphics card probably won't be able to handle the higher resolution so I'll have to get a new graphics card as well!!!
