    Did you uninstall the old drivers first? They might be interfering. Also, it might be running some DX9 features now, that weren't possible with the 440, but fx cards don't always deal with it very well - check the game readme file.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Check that the sound settings haven't changed in VC as they have a nasty habit of doing so when you make a gfx card change - try this first as it's very easy to change and worked for me.

    Some of your games when they are installed for the first time, they check what your PC can do and optimise performance based on the results they get, When you put a new videocard into a computer they do not re-detect your settings when you play them again and adjust the game for the new hardware.

    It's the same with GTA3 & Vice city what you have to do is delete these files and the game will act like you have just installed it new and detect the correct setting for your video card, instructions are as follows

    Delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/models" directory the files
    "TXD.DIR" and "TXD.IMG" (if they exist)

    Delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/data" directory the file
    "CAPS.DAT"

    Delete from the "Documents and Settings/Current logged-in User/
    My Documents/GTA Vice City User Files" directory the "GTA_VC.SET" file.

    (Edited to make more sense..)

    Also try different sound options within the game, this should increases performance.

    I find EAX 1 & 2 even on a Sblive! run slow with GTA 3 & Vice city & that they run better with direct3D hardware sound on my and my brothers pc..

    And get the latest sound drivers, if you dont already have them
