Samsung 206BW: Best settings and other q's

Recently got a samsung 206BW - can anyone list settings they've settled with so I can try and get rid of some of the text blurring I have? Only have integrated graphics on this Dell C521 but will soon add a graphics card. Should this signif. improve vision, and do you think the addition of a DVI cable will improve?

DVI will probably help clear text up, yes. Also make sure you're running in 1680x1050.

Text blurring?? I assume you're running Windows so do you have ClearType turned on?

I don't really see any noticeable difference on my 226BW between analogue and DVI connection

guys is the latest 22" Samsung that I've heard has an "S" panel version that is suppossed to be head and shoulders quality wise above the A & B panel versions? If so, does anyone know of a retailer that can assure the sale of the "S" panel version wihout having to trapse around PC World and ask them to open all their boxes to check which somehow I can't see them doing! Thanks

When configured properly there's not anything in it.

You know that Samsung have taken the identifying labels off them now, meaning that not only would you have to take them out of their boxes but also start taking them apart... Mine's like that, they've even deleted the give awat details under the 'secret' screen you can bring up! Lots of threads about this online.

Maybe try playing with the cleartype setting to tune it to your tastes. A quick google search found a few people saying they found text blurry with cleartype enabled, like you. I guess the anti-aliasing technology used to make fonts appear smooth can appear to some as being fuzzy or blurred.

I don't use Windows so I wouldn't know how well the font smoothing technology works. My anti-aliased fonts in Linux look sharp, at least to my eyes

You shouldnt really be getting blurry text at native resolution, regardless of whether your connected by vga or dvi. I doubt very much that getting a dvi cable will give you any noticeable improvement

Ok thanks guys, will try some more fiddling but have a new DT arriving soon so will probably save it till then. Will also wait until then before trying a dvi cable - borrow one first - and see if it really doesn't make much difference as a couple of you have suggested. If I find anything interesting will post it here. Thanks all again.

Sorry to change the subject here but has anyone been getting stuck pixels with the 226bw? I've just had to return mine after discovering 4 of them!

Can you return a monitor for having dead pixels these days? I know this was a big issue a few years ago and some manufacturers stated that you had to have a certain number of dead pixels before the unit could be classed as faulty etc. I just wondered what the current thinking was and which companies let you return them for this very reason? Thanks
