Sounds promising, where did that info come from? You should reference it.

How much vram are these cards gonna have? Clock speeds in comparison to the XT?

Re: ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro HIS

Looks like they're 600mhz core, 1600mhz memory. As opposed to 750mhz core, 1650mhz memory on the XT.

Sounds like they stand a fair chance of being clocked to XT speeds. The spec are otherwise identical. I'm just not sure its gonna be able to compete with the 320mb 8800GTS its priced up against.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro HIS

The 2900pro and 2900gt are supposed to have a very short production life of a few months.

It would be better to wait for the replacements which will run cooler and may hopefully be single slots designs too.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro HIS

one note though... you need to have a really fast processor to get the most out of it!
My Q6600 bottlenecks this pro even at 3.2ghz overclock..

I am still on the retail fan/ heatsink so i dont want to push the overclock to high just yet... but at the 2.4ghz mark I was only getting 10000 on 3dmark06...
Who knows how high it will go if i get a decent cooler and clock this Q6600 to 3.6

Also... its worth noting that the clock of this pro are 600 / 800...
Last night i clocked it to XT level and it ran fine till i fell asleep.... no hassles
Will post an updated 3Dmark score with those clocks... but i dont expect it to score any higher as my CPU is definately holding it back!
