OCUK have been more expensive than the competition for everything barring memory for a good year or so now. Motherboards are often up to £30 more expensive than the competition, and CPU's generally £5-£15 on the low/mid-range models. When you factor in postage they are usually a LOT more expensive than Scan/Ebuyer/Amazon.

As I recall, some people got some very good deal on the Thermalright 120 Ultra - Extreme. I am sure that's the only deal either. I think Ebuyer is the one that is fairly consistently cheaper than the competition if you don't need next day delivery.

They frequently get stuff first, and more of the new stuff, than most other shops. Early adopters always pay a premium and OcUK caters especially well for them which is cool.

However all but one of the cards is the 256MB models

I think Scan are being smart, they're not stocking a card that struggles to perform against it's rival. They did the same with the HD2900, not keeping a large proportion in stock.

Let's face it, few enthusiasts will purchase a 3870 at the moment, unless the stock situation for the 8800GT doesn't see any improvement in the near future.

Re: ATI 3000 range prices at OcUK

i very much doubt thats the reason, if they can get them in they will be up, ocuk have sold over 150 within 2hours and probably many more now, 8800GT is low on stock so many have switched to 38XX in the meantime

i have a 8800GT but wouldnt mind 2 3870's to run in crossfire

Re: ATI 3000 range prices at OcUK

3870s sold out in 2 hours at OcUK, so they're certainly moving fast enough

People say they aren't going to shift because of the 8800GTs, but they're better than the 8800GTs in every other area, so it's only those after the maximum FPS who are set totally on the 8800s. A good few are considering everything, not just FPS. They're generating a lot of interest. This is why I'm more inclined to stay on the ATi side than move back to nV for my main PC. I do a lot more than just gaming.

To be honest, if I was buying now (and I might for the gfs system), the 3850 looks like a top choice too.

Hopefully they will get the Powercolor HD3850 which has 512mb RAM and runs at 720mhz .
