Factor in the more expensive card that gives you less, and that's assuming you can find one on sale?.. Yes, that makes sense.

If I want to be sarcastic in a post I started then I will be. I asked a question and got some useful answers to the point I'll probably get an 8800GT so your comment was somewhat unnecessary really....hence the sarcasm....

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that the 8800GT runs hotter (thus uses more juice).. all that for 1 extra fps in crysis?.. lolwut?!?!11!

Re: Can anyone recommend an X1900 XT Crossfire replacement?

My HD3870 does the job perfectly fine for me. I can run Crysis well at 1280x800 or 1440X900 at high settings. It was 20 quid cheaper than the cheapest 8800gt I could find and I consider that I paid nearly ten quid more than I should have(was in a hurry to get a new card). It also consumes less power and has a better stock cooler too.

Considering that many people have got HD3870 cards for 140 quid or less means for me it is better value than the 512mb 8800GT as around 170 quid is the current going rate for this card. Also 512MB HD3850 cards can be had for between 115 to 125 quid which are only slightly slower than the HD3870 also. If the 8800GT had been at around 140 to 150 quid it would have been better value for gaming IMHO.
