Question Advice needed: Graphics w/after market cooler

    Hi guys,

I am in the process of building a new pc and will soon be buying the graphics card, but heres the thing, I am trying not only to keep temps down but also the noise! And if I remember correctly from my last decent graphics card the noise can be like a jet plane

Firstly can anyone recommend a graphics card that'll take an aftermarket h/s (i'm considering on getting either 8800GT or HD3870?)

Secondly what aftermarket cooler(s) are the best for performance and low noise?

Thirdly, I have never taken apart a graphics card in my life so does anyone know of any guides on how to do this kinda thing? (possibly with pictures)

Fourth, if you offer a suggestion please can you also let me know the complete kit that i'll need, ie.what fan, paste, adhesive stuff, clips etc etc... as i said I am a complete noob at this type of thing, but wanna try.

I've seen on some websites that they say you need VRM h/s, yet I seem to only find ram sinks, are these the same thing?

Any and all advice is most welcome.

    Thanks,

    Peace

Re: Advice needed: Graphics w/after market cooler

there are already several threads on this topic.. have a search around and you'll find far more details than posting in a whole new thread and waiting for response..

The HSF for 8800GT topic is getting slightly congested already..

As for the installation bits, getting the aftermarket cooler will come with nicely laid out pictorials on how to remove and install the new cooler..

I guess if you're still unsure, then post a thread here asking for specific advise.. I'm happy to help out as I have installed quite a few aftermarket coolers.. including those card you mentioned..
    Me want Ultrabook
