    Pci 2.0?? & 9800gtx

    Hi

Is is worth paying extra for a PCI2.0 motherboard?

I am looking at the Dark Raider and 9800GTX. Will there be much difference in using the 9800GTX in a non-PCI2 motherboard? I am thinking the 9800GTX is PCI2 but there's such little info about PCI2 available.

I've been researching for my next build for a couple of months and the first time I read anything about PCI2.0 was yesterday.

    Thanks

Shouldn't make any difference at all really, crtainly nothing noticable.

I'm under the impression that no card is really exploiting the bandwidth added by PCI-e 2.0 yet.

doesn't make a difference. the cards still don't use the bandwidth up. also on tomshardware it was shown the 9800 running at 8x had no performance diffs from x16 etc. so you don't really need to worry about the mobo being pci-e 2.0

    Re: Pci 2.0?? & 9800gtx

hopefully the nex gen cards will use it meaning better cards maybe with nvidias new line as i think they are gonna stop geforce with the 9900 series and now they have bought Ageia the nex gen cards will be truly remarkable its why i'm staying off the 9x series right now myself. As they said though nothing is utilizing it yet as that would just increase the price of the card
