    Question SG33G5M and PCI 2.0

    Hi,

Im planning to get a SG33G5M as HTPC but are on a big hunt for the perfect graphics card (need to run VC-1). Have runned thru a couple of tests and found Msi GeForce NX8800GTS. It uses the PCIE 16x 2.0. Does this work with the SG33G5M mainboard??? Does any 2.0 card work with the shuttle?

    thanks,

    /Kristian

    Re: SG33G5M and PCI 2.0

PCIe is backwards compatible so a PCIe 2.0 card will work in a PCIe 1.0 expansion slot although you obviously lose the additional bandwidth that PCIe 2.0 provides.

If you are looking for a good multimedia card rather than for gaming then the ATI 38xx series may be better suited for your needs.
