    crysis ect

Basically got a sweet new pc with 4870 vga e8400 watercooled cpu.

I was wondering whats the highest res or graphics rating ie high very high ect, on crysis using the 4870.

Basically how high can i have settings for 4870 without affecting lag ect low FPS. would you dare put very high settings on, on lets say 1024x786 res?

    Re: crysis ect

Well it depends, single or multiplayer? i found that with my bfg 8800GTS(512mb/g92) would run at around 26-30fps on single player at High settings(on XP) and with shadows off(always do tbh) but on multiplayer i was getting around 60fps both played at 1680x1050 resolution. Since the 4870 is a much better card then id say high would certainly be playable if your one to be able to play games under 40FPS(iam but some cant live under 60fps), just a note crysis warhead is out next week and is only £15 at play so might be better getting that(if you havent got original) as it doesnt follow on it just follows a diferent character.

    Hope this helped a bit.

    Re: crysis ect

Well from a number of reviews around the net the general concensus is at low resolutions you will easily be able to run high settings, even at 1920*1200 you should be averaging more than 30FPS

    "Low Resolutions"
    "at 1920*1200"

Did you really put those in the same sentence

You have/are getting the 4870 to play on a 1024x786 resolution? That's kind of a waste...

    Re: crysis ect

i have it that setting sinse i just trying it out, i used the "optimal settings " thing on the game to let it decide and it gave me that res and high settings, though i sure it can go higher.

can 4870 run 1280x1024 res? and with high settings? with smooth gameplay.

    Re: crysis ect

What is the native resolution of your monitor? For a nice, crisp picture, using that resolution is the most important thing. Then you can slowly ramp up the detail settings to suit.

Always ignore "optimal settings" they lie.
I've had stupidly low setting off every game.

    Re: crysis ect

my monitor is a CRT and can run upto 1600x1200 but when i first got my pc the settings for most my res were 1280x1024.

    Should i have either.

1:1280x1024 on high settings (i dout 4870 can run very high on this res smoothly)?

    OR

    2: 1024 x768 on very high settings?

or maybe another res what you think??

I have vista 64 just so you know

    Re: crysis ect

The 4870 will run pretty smooth on 1600x1200 lol (though some people claimed to have 'lag' in movement because of the 512 RAM on 'high' resolutions) But I doubt you will notice that under 24"

Try it out. Check TweakGuides I'm sure they have a Crysis tweak guide which will show you the differences between the settings. I'm sure you can run 1280x1024 at very high. But if the difference between high and very high doesn't seem apparent to you then stay with high and play at your highest res.

    Re: crysis ect

I run Crysis on 1650x1050 with a 4850 and get ~30fps with most set to highest (turn off motion blur and turn down a couple of other options). Generally anything over 30fps seems quite good in this game, but to check just press the "`" key (top left key) and type "r_displayinfo=1" to see your current fps (or use FRAPS).
