Dual monitor setup: is there a way to...

Play a game (such as C&C3) on my main monitor, and also be able to do things on my secondary monitor?

I can display stuff on the 2nd monitor fine, say a chat page for instance. But I can't actually manipulate anything on this monitor whilst I'm in the game on my primary display... does this make sense? I have to hit the 'windows' key to come out of the game, then move the mouse over to the secondary monitor and do whatever it is I want to do...

Is there a way to play a game on one monitor (using your mouse and keyboard in the game), and still be able to use your second monitor to do stuff as well. Maybe a 2nd mouse or something? Or a way of tabbing between the monitors without having to physically 'minimise' your game and then move your mouse over? Or am I asking too much?

You can't do that with all games can you?

No but the ones you can it will work for, or you could try running them in/on a virtual machine although that will be heavy on the system resources.
