    monitor and graphics card help

im thinking of replacing my 19" 1440x 900 resolution monitor with this -http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-099-SA

the resolution on the link monitor is 1920x1200, i currently have a 320 mb BFG 8800 oc2 graphics card and would like to know if this card can cope with playing modern games at such a high resolution.

if not then can anyone reccomend a nvidia card to get which will.

    thanks
    ant

    Fixed the link for you

The 8800 GTS 320MB will struggle to play modern games at 1920*1200.

What budget are we looking at for the graphics card?

For 1920*1200 you are going to need a decent card as a minimum the 9800 GT (or if you can find one a cheap 8800 GT 512MB, same card different name!) Will both be less than £100, £120 will get you a 9800 GTX+ (much better than the GT) the next step up is the GTX260 for ~£170

Is the a reason you do not want an ATi card? The HD4850 is very good and can be found for £100-£120 (similar performance to the 9800GTX+) and a HD4870 is similar to a GTX260 in performance and cost.

Re: monitor and graphics card help

You will need to check the exact numbers but I would be very surprised if your PSU could not handle a GTX260.

Find out what its 12v specifications are (how many amps on each 12v rail it may have more than one) if they combined are equal to or more than 30A you will be fine (providing you have the 2x PCI Express 6 pin connectors available).
