    Samsung T260HD

I was looking at getting a big monitor/TV and wondered if anyone had any experience with this. Reviews seem in fairly short supply, I understand its a TN panel but has pretty good quality images. I'm just hoping someone has some first hand experience of it.

Also feel free to post with your experiences of 26" monitors generally. Im currently using a high quality 21", I want to make the step up to 1920x1200 and usually bigger is better. I'm just concerned that 26" may be getting towards the "too big to sit close to" level.

    Re: Samsung T260HD

Right first up the is nothing wrong with picture quality purely from the type of panel TN, VA or IPS can all create brilliant images or conversely can all make terrible ones as well.

The main disadvantages of TN are that the viewing angles are poor this is even more apparent with a larger monitor and they have 6bit colour rather than 8bit using dithering to make up the remaining colour combinations. Advantages wise they can have high refresh rates and are cheaper (on the whole) than VA or IPS panels.

If you just want to move up to 1920*1200 then you can do that at 24" and the increased pixel depth (smaller pixels) will provide a sharper image than on the 26". You could get the same model but in 24" (T240HD) and save yourself ~£20

If however you feel that text will be too small on a 24" monitor then then 25.5" monitors (sold as 26") have the same pixel per inch as 22" monitors (resolution of 1680*1050) so while the image is not quite as sharp it is still perfectly good.
