    Msi hd 2350

Alright, so I am just about to order my parts from scan when I remember it is probably going to be a week or so before my 8800 GTS arrives from RMA. So I go and look for an extremely cheap card that will enable me to build my PC, use it for general use and then just chuck my 8800 in when it arrives.

I spotted the HD 2350 for a tenner, will this cope with web browsing and perhaps a minimal amount of Counter-strike 1.6?

Definitely cope with web browsing, Counter strike I don't know, but at a guess it should be able to manage at a low detail settings and or resolution it only has 64MB of memory so don't expect wonders!

Well I normally play 1.6 in 800*600, 32bit colour, as long as it is playable I cannot complain for a tenner.

    Re: Msi hd 2350

Well in that case I reckon you will be fine at that Resolution memory is not really an issue and as you say for £10 it will tide you over until your other card gets back from RMA land.

    Re: Msi hd 2350

I would have though it wudnt be too bad to play counterstrike 1.6 as the game can be run on the most basic of intergrated chipsets.

Minimum: 500 mhz processor, 96mb ram, 16mb video card, Windows 2000/XP/ME/SE, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: 800 mhz processor, 128mb ram, 32mb+ video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

If your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements that is probably the cause of any issue you are having.

    Re: Msi hd 2350

From what I can find out the HD2350 is basically an HD2400 with disabled UVD and 32 bit memory.

There is also this brand new 256mb HD2400 which has 64 bit memory for under 15 quid:

No doubt that'll manage 1.6 fine. I hammer through Source at 50FPS+ on crappy intergrated Intel and I know someone who plays on an AGP 9200SE 128MB with a PIII lol, Source engine isnt really demanding once you turn the HDR and other frills off and 1.6 is pre Source!. Me reckons will do nicely as a stop gap measure.
