I'd suggest he stretch his budget the 25 quid and get that card then but worried about whether his PSU could hack it. Overkill for the res he plays at but probably future proof at that res for a good while! make sense or not?
If I was spending £225 I would wait the extra couple of weeks and save up the extra £25 for a 4850x2, Sapphire announced price drops earlier this week which have not hit retail prices yet so expect a drop of a bit more yet. The 1gb version may even drop to £225 you never know
