Dell SP2309W and ATI Radeon 4670

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new PC primarily for Photoshop (no games).
I like to specs for the Dell SP2309W monitor but it's resolution (2048x1152) seems higher than the maximum supported one of the Radeon 4670 (512Mb) card in the computer (1920x1200).

I have seen mention of Dual-link? DVI but don;t know what this involves (is it 2x DVI leads?)

I can't seem to find any info as to whether the monitor is dualink compatible.

My other alternative is to go with the S2309W (1080 resolution)

    Thanks

I've got the s2309, and whilst it is a good gaming screen (TN panel) not the best for Photoshop I'm afraid.

Is the 24" S-IPS Dell out of reach?

You will need to go with an 8 bit PVA,MVA or IPS if you want any sort of colour accuracy. Most TN type LCDs are 6 bit and not as good as the other types for colour critical work. The best type to go for will be one of the newer IPS type screens.

The Dell 2209WA is an E-IPS screen:

    This is a good 24" H-IPS screen:

    This is a good 24" S-PVA screen:

Also you will need to calibrate your screen too!!

You will need to get a screen calibration tool such as a Spyder 2:

This 20" LCD screen is available for £90:

It is supposed to have an IPS panel!!

I have a similar Phillips screen and it has excellent image quality.

Re: Dell SP2309W and ATI Radeon 4670

Thanks to all for the advice. With the discounts at Dell I have been quoted £870 for the PC I have chosen with the S2309 monitor and £800 with no monitor at all.
The upgrade price for the SP is £130 over the price with the S2309.

I think I'll opt for the bundle with the S2309W for now (as it's only costing me about £70) and later offload the monitor and buy an S_IPS one later.
