Seems to be faster than a GTX295:

Since power consumption of the HD4890 itself seems very similar to an HD4870 it would interesting if an HD4890X2 card was released.

Wonder what 2 x GTX275 are like - not that I can afford a £400 graphics subsystem at the minute, of course (come to that, I'd probably struggle to find 2 GTX275s in stock...)
I'd definitely like to see a 4890 x2, and judging by the power figures in that review it *should* be possible...
The i7 chipsets (X58) seem to be handling cross-fire and SLi a lot better than any of the 775 (Intel) chipsets or AMD2 chipsets (NF) which is about time as it makes the setup a lot more attractive.
Well the GTX295 is very slow on it's clocks, and it seems very close which is quite good news that the GTX275 and HD4890 will be neck and neck - due to the 576mhz core clock.
Mind you mine has a 27% overclock on the core and shader, and a decent bump on memory which is very good, I get a nice boost in fps in any game with it.
It would have been better to release the HD4890 sooner, they had no real high end single gpu to compete with. Now they have their answer, and it looks very promising
The HD4890X2 will probably be around the same as a GTX295 or possibly a bit better depending on how much they reduce the clock speeds, from what I hear the HD4890 is hotter running but runs cooler in tests due to the fan speed set a fair amount higher.
