    9800XT Noise - This can't be right

I have a 9800XT 256mb Sapphire card in this machine here and I have been playing a few games recently that has resulted in an odd quirk, when ever the card is under full load the fan is getting quicker, but on full load its almost like a case fan where the bearing has gone, its sounds like quite a grating noise, any one else get this if you have this card?

I really don't wanna have to RMA it, but I fear this could be the beginning of the card fan failing and I have only had the card three months or less.....just curious if anyone is seeing this underfull load on thiers....

Then there is the other problem, the fact its running so hot it make the perspex window very hot to touch

    cheers m@

oh the fan works fine, it almost as if as soon as it goes full power it starts to do one of two things, wobble as it rotates so the blades touch the plastic outer sher, or secondly, its going so quick it causes the fins of the HSF to rattle, and I cannot figure out which it is....

It's the only mechanical part on the card so I would just replace the fan if the card runs OK otherwise. Can't see the point RMA'ing a graphics card just for a noisy fan

ok, thats fair enough about the RMA but do you know where you can get the low profile fan for it?

i got same card, under full load it makes a noticeably louder noise but not the grating that you have. Like they say - get a fan! Not sure which type to get though, soz
