I know it's not their intended use, but I was wondering if anyone had experience of using the Mimo touchscreen monitor, and if so do they know if it can be used as a primary display? I'm plotting a fairly complex modding / build project and if I could use one of these as the primary monitor it'd make life so much easier...
Of the top of my head I would say "I don't see why not, it'll be the same as a PCIe VGA card only it's over USB."
The only problem I foresee would be you would need to install the drivers software, and the only way to do that would be to have an ACTUAL moniter.

lol, no, it's not that bad I was just considering hacking a mimo display (£150), a Poulsbo pico-itx mobo (£240) and an external PSP battery into what would essentially be a 7" PDA running Windows 7. Well, partly that, and partly I'm looking at the viability of doing something e-readerish with a couple of smallish touchscreens sandwiched together. All highly unlikely, but I'll never know if I don't try

I'd looked at the Via board already (on linitx.com) and quite like the idea, but the poulsbo one has 2 huge advantages - it only draws ~ 5W under load, and the graphics are DX9 compliant. If I can navigate the treacherous straits of LDVS / CMOS and other bizarre connection options that come attached to flat panels I'd really like to build the whole thing ground up (there are some nice looking AMOLED panels out there too...), but if I can't manage that then the Via board is probably better to pair with the Mimo as the "cheap" option...
Ahh right sorry, I didn't compare the specs or anything I just noticed it was cheaper
