    24"-30" General purpose monitor

One of my friend asked me about a new PC, and since it's not going to be used for gaming at all, only Office and internet, I figured that just about any Dell will do the job. However, she does want a "good" monitor for it. As far as I can tell, budget is flexible although I am looking for something fit for the purpose (I don't think that super low response time is crucial) rather than the very best just because it's within budget.

From the other thread about gaming monitor, I am short-listing the HP LP2475W as a 24". It seems like that monitor is not only good for gaming. Can anyone recommend something good above that size?

    Thanks.

Dell 2709W is always a good choice provided you buy it during promotion period.
Occasionally it gets cheaper than comparable 24" PVA/IPS panel.

I've got a scratch on my Sammy 24" so I've got permission from the other half to secure another monitor. Any idea when the Dell promotional period takes place?! I'm there with my magic 'buy' finger when it is...

    That does sound interesting

Arthur - have you had a chance to look at a 24 and a 27 side by side both displaying 1920x1200 ?
I'd be interested to know your opinion.....

    Re: 24"-30" General purpose monitor

Unless you (your friend) is sitting a reasonable distance away from the screen i would stick to no more than 24", especially if the screen is the same resolution as a 24" screen i.e. 1900x1200 as the display will start to look quite blocky, go and sit about 2-3 feet from your tv and you will get a rough idea of what i mean.

TBH that is exactly what I thought - the only way to get bigger and better is a 3008 - and I just can't afford it!!!

    Re: 24"-30" General purpose monitor

I would recommend you to wait for a while long since BenQ has recently announced their line of LED back lit monitors that will also come in the 22inch and 24inch form. They will incorporate their signature 1080p Full HD (1920x1080) displays, with 5 ms response time, except include 5 million : 1 dynamic contrast ratio. And because it is an eco-friendly monitor its shell is composed of 28% recycled plastic!

    *EDIT:
Apologies once again for the wrong data:
The V2200 Eco is actually 21.5 inches, just like most 22 inch monitors.
