    Yet Another TFT Question

    Hi All

Got an other TFT quesiton to add to the almost daily requests for advice.

Heres the situation my 19" CRT is on the way out, so time to invest in something. Looking to spend about £350, i need best colour quality possible for graphics work, Good for odd gaming action in UT2004 & BF:v + 1942 and the odd film. Generaly something rather eye catching (yes it boils down to being vain)

I must say ive never been more confused trying to buy something. There seems to be no perfect TFT for what i want, so its a case of make do and balance.

What can you recommend to meet my requirements ?

Is there any noticeable difference between the 16.2mill and the 16.7mill panels in terms of colour reproduction

Ive been looking at the iiyama E431S series are these good ? even though its only a 16.2mill panel

Any advice to stop the confusion over which panel to get would be most helpful

Iiyama are generally regarded as being the best. Do you want a 19" tft or a 17". As your spending £350 i imagine its a 17"

Have a look at the hyundai image quest 17" as well as the Iiyama

Yeah sadly due to my budget its 17". Must say i am taken by the Hyundai Q17 but looks wise it doesnt float my boat, but i guess i could grow to love it.
Main question still is, can you really seen a difference between the 16.2mill panels and the 16.7mill ones ?

I have a Samsung 172b (dsub only version of 172T [doh!]) which I've had for a year. I find it fine for games though it does ghost a little. The 173P is supposed to be good, but expensive. As for dead pixels, my mate had a few dead sub pixels on is illyama tft and I've had a dead area/pixel on my last two CRTs, my Samsung is dead pixel free So much for CRTs. Might be worth popping into PC World or John Lewis and see some screens, we had look a while back when my mate was looking and all the Sony's had dead pixels without exception, where as my Sister's 15" Sony is fine.
