It will work but you won't be able to use the Ati drivers for the card and Aero won't work.

Just like to say thanks for all the responses... finally got round to sorting it out...

ended up getting a PCI HD2400 (256mb) to go with my PCI-e x1300 and it works exactly like i wanted it too. just got tto remember not to upgrade Catalyst above version 9.3
