Which TFT

For getting into Uni, my parents have agreed to buy be a TFT monitor (cos I don't fancy carrying my 21" CRT up and down stairs and stuff!)

I don't really know much about TFT's, I've never owned one. I don't do any graphics designing or stuff like that, so I'm not looking for an uber expensive one. I just need one that's good for gaming And work... of course

I'm wondering if getting a 19" TFT defeats the object of an easy to carry monitor? If not, this seems like a pretty good deal:

For gaming you'll be wanting the fastest response time possible.
Try the NEC MultiSync® LCD1760NX - Damn fine and 16ms response time.

Top quality TFT. 16ms responce, 450:1 contrast ratio, DVI, VGA, USB2 hub with all the cables. Really bright and great for games. I would be lost without mine

I got myself a CML174SXWB (Just try remembering that name!) 17" TFT in Black from Dabs.com. At £338, its within your budget too. Damn nice screen, bit bright (but you can turn that down), great contrast ratio (Very important) DVI or D-Sub connector and 16ms response time.

Blacks can occaisonally all merge into one, but a bit of tuning soon sorts it all out! In fact the only problem was that I didn't buy it sooner!

So from a forum newbie (Can you trust those?) its a strongly recommended screen! Well done on your Uni place too. Where you going?

I'm running a dual display system with two of those black NEC 1760NXs (the front edge around the screen is actual a dark silver which you can't see on many pics).
The bezel is really slim so they go real well side by side.

They're totally the biz. Used to run a 22" Mitsusushi @ 1600x1200 -which is why I got 2 @ 1280x1024, but hey, I've got a job ;-) - but the CRT fried - never looked back.

Plus think of all the extra desk space you'll gain for your books'n'student stuff!

Found out that I can buy a TFT worth upto £350, so I'll probably get that NEC 1760NXs or LG 1710b.

goes up to 1280*1024, no ghosting at all in Q3, UT2003, DVDs, MOHAA, etc, dvi and dsub in, switch on the front of the monitor to control my 2 pcs

And it looks damn fine in my room. Aria.co.uk sell it

personally id go for the NEC as they make very good quality screens... clarity is very very good on this model

that and it can handle all your aps flawlessly
