    Re: which graphics card?

I would have thought you could overclock that CPU quite considerably... I've had my '1.8GHz' E4300 running at 3.6GHz for a good few years now, could certainly help feed a newer graphics card.

    Re: which graphics card?

Yep it should be quite easy to overclock as he has a decent motherboard. The E6320 has a multiplier of 7 though so to hit 3.6GHz he would need 514MHz FSB whereas on your E4300 you would only need 400 as you have a multiplier of 9. It's unlikely that he will reach 3.6GHz with his CPU, 3GHz would be more realistic.
    Main - Intel Core i5 2300 @ 3.5GHz, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM, Asus P8P67 Pro, Coolermaster iGreen 600w, GTX 480, Antec One Case

    Re: which graphics card?

didnt think about the CPU being a bottleneck.
as i said before, there are heat issues with the current card so probably cant overclock the PC the way it is, so we'll upgrade the graphics, it'll then run more stable/coolerr inside and try the overclock afterwards.

and yes we do have quite a beefy cooler, its not the stock one, i think its one of those scythe tower ones, possibly the mugen.

    thats the plan now anyhow.

Just wondering which graphics card to update it to, to make it last another year to 18 months.

either the AMD HD6670 or the HD6570 ?

the computers used at the moment about 6hours a week for gaming, things like COD2, crysis, black ops. hes planning on getting duke nukem, maybe RAGE aswell.

hes quite happy playing on the current system, but the graphics is running about 60C idle, up to 85C or so under load and you do notice the odd bit of corruption/slowdown in various games and it is quite toasty in here (im using it to type this), so were thinking the current card has maybe got a bit worn out, had it since about early 2007 i think.

just wondering what the collective thoughts of the hexites were, 6570 or the 6670. looking to spend no more than £80 if we can help it, but he cheaper the better.

will either of those cards work in the motherboard, with them not being the same PCI-E type? 1 v 2.1 ?

other suggestions welcome if they wont, but if they do, which one of the above?

Hi, i just wondered how you got on with the graphics card upgrade? Which one did you get?

I have a similar spec PC and wanted to replace my X1300 with the ATI HD6670. I've got the Bluestorm 500W (dual 12V with 18amps) PSU and a motherboard with a PCIe x16 ver 1.0a slot.
I'm just concerned if the HD6670 will work with this spec?

Did you have any performance issues with your new card?

    Cheers!

    Re: which graphics card?

I'd say that the 6670 would be minimum I'd be willing to use at that res for gaming.

    for £80 a 6750 would be better http://www.ebuyer.com/266533-sapphir...d-11186-01-20g

or up your budget slightly and go for the 6850 http://www.ebuyer.com/244442-asus-hd...c-2dis-1gd5-v2

    Re: which graphics card?

    You could get a 6770 for £6:02 more £86:02

The 6850 would be much faster but its £40 more
