    GTX580 or HD6970?

    Hi folks,

Simple really, which of the two would be better to keep, which performs better as I've lost count on whats what in the GPU industry as of the last year.

    Thanks.

The 580 is quite a bit faster then the 6970. The 6970 give more power per £ though.

    Re: GTX580 or HD6970?

If you have the money to spend then GTX 580. A 6970 is more of a competitor to the GTX 570 and its pricing reflects this.

    Re: GTX580 or HD6970?

Like everyone else says if you have the cash get the GTX 580. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/graph...eforce-gtx-580 thats 1 of many reviews you can find all praising the GTX 580 as the fastest single slot GFX card. Now if you wanted to run dual GFX cards then thats another story.

    Re: GTX580 or HD6970?

For the price of a single GTX580 you can get a pair of GTX560TI 1GB or HD6950 1GB cards.

    TBH,I would get a GTX570 or an HD6950 2GB or HD6970 2GB if you want a single card setup.

    Re: GTX580 or HD6970?

I've got both the GPU's as both my rigs have GPU's in them but ones not getting much use, its more for browsing, thought I'd let the HD6970 go, seems I was right, mates looking for one anyway.

Thank you all folks for your input, appreciate your advice, thanks again!

The GTX580 is staying in my HTPC!

GTX580 by a mile. Massively superior in every single way.

    Re: GTX580 or HD6970?

Oh if I had both I'd probably keep the 580. GPU performance is higher but it's not massively so considering the price difference between the two cards, and I wouldn't consider it benig the difference between a playable and unplayable frame rate. So buying a card, I'd sway more towards the 6970.

Planning on making any intelligent posts? No card is 'superior in every way', for instance how many monitors is the Nvidia display logic capable of outputting to? Now what about AMD? Don't know? Well read up on it along with other features from both sides, along with performance comparisons in more scenarios including OpenCL/CUDA before posting such unfounded rubbish. In this comparison, the 6970 will be 'massively superior' in many scenarios.
