I have now seen the light! (and there aren't ne jaggies )
On Tuesday my Powercooler Radeon 9600 Pro arrived and so I have finally replaced the GeForce 2 MX 32mb grandad of a gfx card. What a jump in performance to say the least! UT2K3 is sweet to behold and I actually was able to vaguely walk around in a certain high profile alpha leak!
I'm also playing around with the duel monitors. MSN windows and winamp to my right and IE and other straight ahead. Will probably do wonders for productivity if I actually do any work...
So at stock with the specs in my sig... 3075 3DMarks (2003)
Thats with the core at 400 mhz and the memory at 300 mhz.
But I've heard these cards are immensly overclockable on some occasions so I got to it. No longer an Nvidiot I ventured over to Rage3D to d/l a tweaker and started to work.
At 340 mhz the memory proved to have reached its top speed, but I have ram sinks on the way so I'll try again later but I kept going with the core and I'm presently at 480 when I decided I couldnt be bothered running 3DMark 2003 nemore for a while
Current 3DMarks - 3538
So maybe when I get these ram sinks I'll push on to see what I get. Cores have went well over the 500 mhz mark in reviews so I'm hopefull when I can be assed that it will break that.
Watch this space!
To finish I have a few questions -
1) With duel monitors, does it affect the performence of games much when the system has to draw the desktop?
2) Ne1 else with 9600 Pros - how are they faring?
