PS.
What do you mean when you say that the cards are dying? Like alwasy I heard nothing about it....

That blocky screenshot, magazine by any chance? they werent using the correct drivers. The 6800ultra supports shader model 3 so surely there should be no problmes with farcry graphics there.
Pecking order correct me if im wrong... x800xt pe currently top of the pile with the x800xt and 6800ultra pritty much equal. Then we have the x800pros which arent a hell of a lot slower than the others and every one of these cards is capable especially with farcry \/

I had not heard that there have been lots of failuers/returns with these cards and now im begining to see the whole picture!
on thursady i finally got my loveley xfx 6800 ultra, installed it and everything looked fine.
Until i tried to play Red faction, it ran like a dog, so i compared it to my 9800 pro and the ATI kicked its A$$!!
i thought this was very strang as the 6800 is supposed to be the best card righ and i did spend like £400!!
finally i get 3d mark and am getting iver 12000 marks, which is nice, but i am getting graphic distortions and artefacts all over the place.
Does this sound like a failure to you??
Many thanks

I should think so too for £400.Originally Posted by steve threlfall
If the card isnt overclocked and you're getting artifacts, yeah, it's probably dodgy and I'd return it. If you're overclocked it, obviously it's a different matter.Originally Posted by lpobjoy
ok, you guys might find this very interesting!!
had a look at the bios that shipped witht he XFX 6800 ultra and the bios revision on the card was 5.40.02.03.04
the current revision that should have been on the card is 5.40.02.03.14 (there is a sticker with it on the card itself!)
thats more than 10 revisions out!!
It would seem to me somone has messed up here, can anyone else confirm an old bios??
