TV-Out dual monitor type question- help a n00b pls

As you may have seen from this thread: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=25209 I'm trying to repair an old telly I found in a skip. What I need to set the picture up is a test card. I've downloaded the BBC one as a 640x480 jpeg, and what I'd like to do is somehow set up the TV output of my 9500 to display the test card and nothing else. I'm sure that's possible, but what combination of monitor setup and prgram to use I have no idea. I have Win XP and (softmodded) cat 4.4s (or 4.3s, I forget). Help please.

Nice and simple. Turn on your TV Out (you'll need your telly connected to turn it on - it looks for a 75Ohm load across the connector) in the displays tab of your display properties -> advanced dialog. Then set it as your desktop background
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Thanks for the reply mate. If I turn on the TV-out, does it just replicate what's on the main screen at PAL resolution? And so, if that's the case, all I need to do is set windows image viewer to display the test card full screen and I'm in business? Don;t want it as the desktop background as I'll get the toolbar and all my icons.....

You can get it to mirror your main screen - but you're probably best configuring it as a secondary display. This way you can set it as a background without all your icons appearing on the screen

The reason I'm suggesting the background rather than using the image viewer - is that that requires you can actually see whats on the TV - which is not always the case
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Right, I'm with you now- I'll give it a try as soon as I get the chance. I'll have to fart about nicking the S-Video lead out of my laserdisc player, not the easiest job since it's up against the wall and surrounded by junk.

    Thanks for the help.
