Why did you swap back out of interest?

I was testing the core voltages between each bios. They are both indentical, plus I like the name XT Platinum Edition more than just plain old XT

What speeds you running at d00d? What bout temps on card?

stable with gigabyte or ati bios at 500/520. after about 15 minutes of a good game i'm at about 60 degrees.

520/560 will run for a while on both now but after about 3 min it will lock. it's either the core or the bios. prob the core.

The stock cooler is crap tbh

Can't believe your running at 60 degrees stock cooler and I run it under a Waterblock and get 30degrees! It can't be that bad! Anyone tried an artic silencer yet?

i don't think 60 degrees is anything out of the ordinary but i'm sure if it was running at 30 it would be stable at xt speeds. seen two people's water cooling systems fill their 4000 dollar pcs with water
i just don't want to take that risk.

so you think it's hardware related right? no chance of it being the bios?

Got to be cooling cos I can run my core up to 575 at the mo. Waiting for the AS creamique to cure and hopefully higher

Whats the rest of the system like ie case and airflow etc?

athlon 3400+ @ 2.3ghz, k8v deluxe se, 1024 ocz performance, cooler master wave master, x800 vivo with xt bios and 16 pipes enabled. 2 maxtor diamond max 120gb, 2 74gb raptors raid 0 (system + main applications) and 1 WD 120gb caviar (2m cache).

i just want it to run at xt speeds, the most reliable route. plus, i'll be moving to barbados soon. so ****e needs to be cool. it seems to shut down around 60-63 everytime.

Either replace the stock cooler OR go watercooling and no its not dangerous as long as its done properly!

Hmmmm I don't really know tbh, don't really keep up with air coolers these days

Something like a cut up AMD hsf unit works well if you drill the heatsink with holes that line up

oh christ. at 500/520 in ati tool with max quality settings i top out at 80 C.
