    How's this for an 9500np 128MB

Bought this Radeon 9500np a few months ago for £70 and just fitted it with an Artic cooler and RAM sinks, it's softmodded to a 9700 and clocked to 385Mhz on the core and 622Mhz memory. Using Omega 4.7drivers no artifacts.

    I'm getting

    18298 points in 3dmark01 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7981636
    5847 points in 3dmark03 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2797900

For a £70 card I'm very happy, even beats some 9800Pro's I've compared to.

Just out of curiosity, are these the sort of scores I should be getting on my card or aim even higher?

Sounds good to me. I get 15000 in 3DMark01 without any overclocking on my 9500->9700, but I've just slapped an Arctic cooler on there yesterday and will try pushing it up a bit. Should've cut up the stock heatsink and used some epoxy/thermal paste and created myself some ramsinks while I was at it...

You should be able to get the core to ~450mhz if you volt mod it and make sure its adequatly cooled.

Not considerd molt vodding it, is it hard to do? Using an Artic cooler on high speed, I hope that would be good enough for cooling?

Youd need to do a test. For this test you need a finger and an open pc touch the back of the gpu, if your finger burns/melts/gets eaten by strange green animals then you should probably remount your cooler (or change it, although it is one of the best air coolers you can get without DIY'ing). If your going to vmod and want it to last you preferably want temps below 50c, although you shouldnt have any probs if it hits 65c under load in the most demanding games with it vmodded fully.

Its not that hard to do once youve done it a few times, it depends if have done soldering of smallish parts before?
you can get it vmodded for £10 at over-clock.co.uk or tv repair shops etc.. or if you pay me ill even do it

Heres a a picture of the chip you have to sodler too

and heres the guide it came from: http://www.madshrimps.be/gotofaqlink.php?linkid=2401

Just hit 420 core on my 9500np with ATItool and it's still going strong. Memory craps out at 320 though, which is a shame. May have to get some ramsinks. Time for a round of 3DMark... 16300 in 3DMark01, not as much improvement as I would have hoped. It seems from the detailed results that I'm being held back by my CPU (Athlon 1500M at 2.2ghz) and maybe RAM timings (cas3 very lapse). Still, not going to complain if it makes Far Cry smoother
