It's nearly silent in 2D mode, but is louder than the 9800 Pro fan in 3D mode.

Wow - this is a great card.

Running in my shuttle at the moment (fits fine)
As it comes, it runs at 370/1000 - core/mem.
I'm now running it at 415/1100 with room to spare, no heat issues (not forgetting its in a shuttle).

PCW Component centre had them listed in stock on sunday, i ordered one with next day delivery, but today got told that they were out of stock, currently sending cheesed off correspondance. This is the 3rd retailer who have let me down in my quest to buy a next gen card. I might just wait this one out tho due to the quality of the card and the decent price.

That seems about right considering its jammed in a heavily kitted Shuttle. More later.
Oh, which shuttle you got it in? Are you using the SilentX 250w?

I need to upgrade my ageing Ti4200 but am afraid the 6800 will melt my maxxed SB51G (specs in sig).

Do you reckon the combined load of a 3Ghz HT chip and a 6800GT would kill it? In this heat the CPU and PSU are sitting at 61'C (that's at 100% load mind you - SETI!) which seems awfully hot...

What's the noise like on the X800 XT cards compared to the 6800GT. I've heard the radeons draw less power than the Geforce so might be a better choice in my Shuttle toaster PC, but noise (or lack-of it) is a selling for me too.

Bearing in mind it would have to be pretty damned quiet since my current video card is passively chilled!

Got a BFG 6800GT a couple of days ago and have been impressed. Runs very quickly, doesn't produce too much heat and is no noisier than my old 9600XT in everyday use.
