    Re: Budget Graphics Card

Both 5450s and 6450s are fine, but the 6450 tends to a cost a bit more. It's much better for games, but won't offer any benefit for just 2D work.

    Oh, Yes.

I recall why I gave up considering this mobo. Because I prefer installing 32G RAM. Now I'm forced to install 16G. I can reconsider this mobo. Thanks

Either RAM is fine, They are just different coloured heat spreaders,

I'd personally choose the SilverStone Strider PSU as they are extremely good quality for bronze rated PSU's.

    Re: Budget Graphics Card

There are some really cheap GPU's that would seem to suit your needs - any of the NVidia GT 6XX range would probably do nicely

Anything more than the GT range would push you into the gaming range, which you said you dont need cos you dont game

    Re: Budget Graphics Card

Note that if you ever re-purpose the box for running a Linux desktop (or locally log in to configure a kvm virtual machine on RedHat or Centos) then for some years Linux desktops have used the 3D support for rendering.

But as long as you avoid Intel integrated graphics, you should be fine.

    Re: Budget Graphics Card

As the others have said already, any cheap card will be fine. On the driver front things aren't as clear.

AMD/ATI has better support from open source drivers. Their proprietary driver, whilst improving rapidly, isn't a stable as Nvidia's.
Nvidia cards don't have such good support from open source drivers, but their proprietary driver is very fast and stable.

If you're not an open source purist and you're happy to load a proprietary "binary blob" driver then an Nvidia card would be better, otherwise get an AMD.

    Re: Budget Graphics Card

it IS possible to slightly benefit from a larger frame buffer for large high res photo's, when lots are opened for editing....

but 1gig is enough for most of everything.
