    Dosn't make a single FPS of difference for me, i set it at 92 and 128.

    Unhappy

    Also:

    http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoo...08&tid=1438275
    "DOOM III OPTIMIZATION guide for ATI (and possibly NVidia cards)!"

    (people are also reporting a significant performance boost by effectively keeping the files compressed during normal play, where they would usually be uncompressed and adding strain to the CPU. They are doing this by opening the pak4 files with winrar and copying particular files out into their own folders or something I think... unfortuately i can't find the post on planetdoom )

    EDIT::

    Aha found it! http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoo...33&tid=1440520

    Usually games don't need this many tweaks. Is the game kinda buggy or do people just want absolute max performance?

    The sound was playing havoc with my system, but ever since I turned surround sound off, I've have no problems.

    Yeah, seems the surround sound thing has caused a few bugs, especially that Surround Sound one.

    How long until the next patch then?

    Techreport have released a guide on tweaking it as well.

    http://www.techreport.com/onearticle.x/7133

    As for why people are tweaking this game; there are a lot of people aiming to get the best performance out of this game and i think this is the real cause. I doubt it's due to it being poorly made: when you look at the forums of any game you're probably only hearing a very small portion of the players unfortunate enough to have a problem with it; the people that are happy with the game are playing it.

    Also, this looks useful (includes non-graphical tweaks as well, and even a [supposed] way pf increasing texture resolution):
