    Best card for around £80-£90

I'm building my first computer and I'd just like a bit of advice.

I've found the XFX HD 6850, but it's been out of stock for a while, I don't know when it'll be back, so I thought it'd be worth asking if there was a better one for about the same money.

Re: Best card for around £80-£90

That is the best i can see for £90, but it's unlikely there's going to be more stock (though, a call to the Scan sales team will confirm it).
If you can stretch to ~£100, Ebuyer have them:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/391772-xfx-hd-...edium=products
    Or Scan have:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-m...-1-x-mini-hdmi

The 560 being a bit better (as is MSI's warranty):
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/539?vs=543

Post a bit more on these forums and you can get free Scan shipping too:
    http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...tup-guide.html

EDIT: I've just realised that's a 560 SE, which isn't as strong as the 560. I'm looking for comparisons now.
EDIT 2: It looks like the SE is between the 550Ti and 560 in performance, roughly two-thirds the way toward 560 levels.
The 550Ti is just not as good as the 6850, but the 560 overall is better.
I'd say the MSI 560 SE above is roughly the same performance as a 6850, the pros and cons for each being:
560 SE (PROS) - Small factory OC, MSI's warranty's usually pretty good, they supposedly overclock further pretty well.
(CONS) - A decent review or relevant comparisons article in this case is pretty much non-existent, Power hog.
6850 (PROS) - Slightly Cheaper, there are reviews out there if you want the numbers, lower power consumption.
(CONS) - XFX's warranty and services suck.

Highlights of a Chinese 560 SE review: http://www.eteknix.com/news/gtx-560-...d-benchmarked/
    6850 vs. 550Ti: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/539?vs=541
    6850 vs. 560: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/539?vs=543

I'm not sure what i'd go for, sorry, but i will say that if you would have been happy buying the 6850 from Scan and can find the extra tenner, why not get it from Ebuyer?

EDIT 3: Or ignore me, that 7770 Cat's found is better for £5 less - i just took ages trying to find reviews without refreshing this page. Silly me.
Still, the free Scan shipping link above's valid.

Yeah go for the 7770, but surely Gigabyte over XFX for the same price?

Re: Best card for around £80-£90

It seems the Scan specifications are not correct for the other HD7770 cards. The Gigabyte seems to run at 1050MHZ:

    http://www.gigabyte.us/products/prod...px?pid=4278#ov

That would make it a bit slower than the XFX card but Gigabyte has a better warranty.

Re: Best card for around £80-£90

Thank you all. I'm going to go for the Gigabyte HD 7770. It seems to be the general consensus.

And thank you Fjo, I will be using the Scan free shipping.
