Unhappy 9800AiW Installation Problem - help needed deperately

I bought a Powercolor 9800SE AIW for my Shuttle SB51G (onboard Intel graphics, Win XP home) and cannot install it!
It's physically in the machine, and the fan is spinning happily, but the machine doesn't seem to recognize it. The installation CD only offered DirectX for installation. Getting the latest drivers from the ATI website and running setup gives the following message: "Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software"

    Any suggestions welcome!

Have you disabled the onboard graphics from the bios? Also what vga port are you plugging your monitor into?

Disabling onboard graphics: tried that, and the machine doesn't seem to boot properly - makes noises like it's starting up, but obviously isn't getting all the way, and goes back to the beginning (if that makes any sense!) and seems to keep doing it. Rset doesn't work, and the only way I can restore order is to switch off and restore BIOS defaults
Which VGA port - desn't seem to matter whether into the original connector or the one on the card - I don't get a signal with the onboard graphics disabled, I get one from the original port when they're not (but I guess you'd expect that!)

    AIW 9800SE problem

Updated BIOS, mobo drivers and reinstalled WinXP without any improvement.

THe supplier is suggesting either a card fault or somethign wrong with the AGP port. Where under device manager would I see whatever controls the AGP slot? and what would it be called? I can't see anything obvious there.

Is there any way you can check this card in another pc to see if it is the card? Have you tried setting the onboard gfx to a different irq? You might be getting conflicts.

What drivers are you atempting to instal? You first need to instal the catalists then the ATI tunner drivers ( capture drivers after you update the catalists ) Then you need the windows media encoders instaled, then you need to instal the MMC... What is the AGP speed set at?

9800AiW Installation Problem - help needed deperately

Seems that some sort of AGP controller should show up in Device Manager, but doesn't.

Anyone any ideas about how to fix that?
