    GTX 760 or GTX 770

I am currently deciding over which graphics card to get. I need a card for 3D game development and general gaming and was wondering if the GTX770 is a bit overkill. Is the £100 difference in price worth it for the gtx 770, bearing in mind that most of my pc gaming will be on older games at 1080p max and I will have a ps4 for the latest releases.

    GTX770: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-m...mhz-cores-1536

    GTX760: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-m...mhz-cores-1152

Would I be better off buying the gtx 760 and saving £100 or is the gtx 770 good enough to make it worth spending the extra money? Thanks for your help.

There's no difference. If it was mission critical you would be considering workstation cards, not comparing two gaming cards.

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

Also worth to ask on which resolution will you play? If you're going to play on 1920x1080 then GTX760 is excellent choice. Even on 2560x1400/1600 is decent enough but IMO GTX770 is more "future-proof".

But the 770 is a 680 with a higher power requirement.

    There's your performance difference:

A little over 20% on average and at 1080p. I personally wouldn't say that's worth the extra £100+. Only way I'd recommend a GTX770 is if you absolutely have to play Crysis 3 maxed (with SMAA) else grab a GTX760 to play most games at max and the few most demanding at high (as opposed to very/ultra high).

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

If you get a 760 and it struggles in the future you could always get another for SLI?

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

I'd get the 760, from experience If the card struggles to play the games you want you can either put it in a sli configuration or sell it and use it to buy another graphics card.

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

760 is a great 1080p card and it is also relatively affordable. I feel that 770 may be slightly overkill, or be leaning towards 1440p gaming.

And as others are saying, adding a second 760 down the road will beast out your rig if you feel you need upgrading.

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

770 is definitely noticeably faster. There are quite big jumps between the x50, x60 and x70 models, mainly due to the amount of shader cores. Even the 670 is still quicker than the 760.

It also depends on what you need. If your not wanting to play the latest games on ultra settings a 760 is easily enough.

But is the 770 worth an extra £100+? Probably not really.

Re: GTX 760 or GTX 770

For an extra £100, I really don't think it is worth the upgrade.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-...eForce-GTX-760 says that the difference is around 20%, which just isn't enough to warrent an extra £100 in my opinion, and you could always SLI the 760 later if you want more performance
