    6800GT, which drivers?

    Hi folks,
Well i just bought a XFX 6800GT 256 Doom 3 bundle and i'm wondering what the best drivers to use are? Games i will try out are BF Vietnam, DC, Farcry, UT2004.

Do you still need the coolbits reg tweak? and where to get it if i need it?

As for overclocking, do the cards come with there own utils or is it best to use Rivatuner or something else?

I haven't used Nvidia for a while but i thought i'd give one of these a go, so it's replacing an 9800 SE AIW softmodded job.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77 (Forceware 61.77)

This is the driver I'm currently running, and using the coolbits tweak to overclock it I got exactly the same card as you have up to 415/1100 from 350/1000, which, iirc, is 6800 Ultra speed (I think its anywhere from 400-425/1100-1200).

I think coolbits comes on the CD with your drivers. Its also available from here (with a description of how it works):

Don't know if thats just them covering their backs though...

The omega drivers worked on my mates computer. I am assuming its just hit and miss with some 6800 cards.

I got artifacts at 425/1150, but not at 415/1100. No overheating problems either, the heatsink/fan combo on the card is quite decent, and atm I only have 1 case 80mm fan and 120mm PSU fan, so if you have a few then should be fine!

Some people have only got up to 400/1100 with the same card, so its a bit hit and miss, but even then thats a decent overclock. i got 3600 3Dmark 05 at stock, about 4200 at 400/1100, and about 4400 at 415/1100, but I guess that depends on your CPU/RAM as well.

I'm using the 66.81's. They seem fine - plus a nice jump in 3DMark05 (like it matters...)

heres the thing, next day delivery the order in most cases has to be placed and processed by noon that day to get it on next day delivery. You won't get a refund as it is technically next day from when they processed and sent it.

Oder confirmation and payment taken happened at 11:44 on Monday morning, but the dispatch email never came till 18:41 on Monday evening.

So there's 7 hours between payment and dispatch, i think they owe me.

If it helps any, im using 66.81's just like Nomadd, and at 400/1100 I get 5000 on 3dMark05. As opposed to 4500 at default clocks.

I'm using the 61.77 drivers cos when i tried the 66.81, running Dawn of War @ 1280 x 1024 it was shimmering like an interlace mode and it doesn't do it with the 61.77 drivers.

What's the difference between the 61.77 and 66.81 drivers?

Oh and Ebuyer refunded the postage for me
