    128Mb Asus 6800 slower than 256Mb FX5900U??

OK....someone sold me a 128Mb Asus 6800 today very cheap, after running some simple benchies on it (like 3DMark2001) I was content that it wasn't a borked card for such a low price.

Anyway, in one of my PCs, I had a LeadTek 256Mb FX5900 Ultra in there with the latest WHQL nVidia drivers on there.

I installed the 6800 in that system, reinstalled drivers using the ones that came with the CD, ran 3DMark2005 and got.........973!!!!! Whereas the FX5900 Ultra got in the 1200s!!!

OK, I thought it might be the drivers, so reintalled the latest WHQL drivers again, and then got......756!!!! OMG!!!!

What the hell is wrong with this card?!?

Please don't tell me that because of the extra ram, the FX5900 Ultra outperforms the 6800!!!!

(I did uninstall drivers each time before installing new drivers).

I know this isn't such a great card (like against a GT) but I'd expected it to outperform a FX5900 Ultra!!!

omg lol what brand made your fx card? well anyway both your cards should be able to beat my gainward geforce 4 TI-4800-SE golden sample not OC and i got 1789 points in 3d mark 03 so there might be soemthing wrong with your asus card lol unless in the bios you set it to 2x AGP lol

When you re-installed the drivers did you run driver cleaner first? as i found that the best way of removing all evidence of your last videocard.

What i would do is download the Nforce drivers for your motherboard.
The latest drivers for your videocard (You have anyway)

and then go into safemode and remove all traces of your old nforce and all the nvidia video drivers via control panel.

Then i would run driver cleaner
    http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

Let it get rid of anything to do with nvidia video and nforce.

Then run the new Nforce drivers first then the latest detonator drivers and restart the PC.

    Did all that.....

No matter how I tinker with the 6800, it still comes up with crap results. I don't mind it getting a low score (as my system is bang up to date) but I expect it to get a higher score than the FX5900 Ultra!!

This score is so bad, I'm sure if I popped in my 9800SE AIW (no softmod), it'll outperform the 6800!!!

I remember than some 6800's were very much affected by fast writes or side band addressing (quite sure its the FW) which made it stuttery and lowered the scores by quite a bit.

So you're suggesting to switch FAST WRITE off then? Will give that a whirl.
