The stock coolers are rubbish, AMD claim they're fine to run at 90c but I wouldn't feel happy w/ my parts running that hot :/ If you're concerned about heat I'd grab a GB or MSI card and the noise is about 40db on full load but 99% you wouldn't be at full load.

Re: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC or GeForce GTX 770 OC

I had a gigabyte r9 280x and it was loud as **** and ran at 80c even with 100% fan speed...

theres loads of complaints about them , people think gb used cheaper fans than they did on the 770 with the same cooler

I'm terms of value for money, I would definately go with the 280x, expecially considering that Mantle is just around the corner now

Go for 280x and while you are not playing, make your card mine BitCoins ;-)

Re: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC or GeForce GTX 770 OC

The 770 is basically an overclocked 680. It's well worth spending the extra money and going for a 780, which is not only noticably faster, but also much cooler and quieter.

Also a lot of people have had issues with the new AMD cards. I was thinking about a 290 myself until I read about it :/

Have they? That's odd, given the 280X isn't a new AMD card at all, it's basically the tried and tested 7970.

Different category of card. If you can get one for the same price as a 770 or 280X then definitely go for the 780ti instead.

Re: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC or GeForce GTX 770 OC

You can't even get a 780 close in price to a 770 or 280x (unless you are going to compare against stupidly overpriced models).
Let alone a 780Ti. Haggling skills of that level would mean you can talk holes in people's heads.
