PSU requirements for the Sapphire 290 Vapor-X

I would like to buy the Sapphire r9 290 Vapor-X Graphics card, but Ebuyer says that it requires at least a 750W PSU. Is this true? This seems like an awful lot of power consumption. Here is my planned build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/j2n4ZL. If anybody could help, that would be ideal. Thanks very much.

If you have a crap supply, then aim for 750W. If you have a good supply then no worries - your build is efficient and your 650W PSU is way more than enough.

Re: PSU requirements for the Sapphire 290 Vapor-X

As kaniel said: those requirements from manufacturers always have assume that people might have a £10 '1000W' PSU from BadPowerAreUs™ which can barely manage with supplying a third of rated power. Hexus reviewed the 290X of that card with a build not that dissimilar to you and got a total system load at the wall of under 350W:

So you are more than fine even if you overclock both your CPU and GPU. In fact looking at the results of Sappphire R9-290 Tri-X on there, 650W might even stretch to Crossfire.

Thanks for all the replies, I will just buy the EVGA 650W PSU.
