    Question ?Which TFT?

I'm not sure which monitor to get, as both have there disad's plus ad's. The two monitors i am deciding between are the VP191s and the VX1912

I will be using the TFT mainly for games and some work as i'm a student (mostly games though).

    Thanx for your help

(BTW i have ordered the VP191s do you think i should go through the hassle of swaping it for the other one, if you think the other TFT is better.)

Doesn't anyone want to help me, it is rather urgent. Plz. Also how much difference does the respone time (ms) make to a monitor (on a game or DVD)?

Response time should be 16ms or less if you are going to use it for gaming etc...

Well, the VX912 has a faster response time, which means it should ghost less when playing games, watching DVDs etc. That doesn't mean the other monitor is bad though necessarily. If you bought the monitor mail order then as far as I know you have a statutory 14 day cooling off period. Just be careful to pull it out of the packaging without damaging anything, then test it out; if you're happy with the performance then keep it, if not send it back.

It may be the case that the VX912 only uses 6 bit-per-channel colour, some of the 12ms response time monitors do. If that's the case, it may ghost less but suffer from colour banding. I couldn't find the bit depth of the panel with a quick google.

How urgent is the need? The VP191 is about to be replaced by the VP192. The VP192 monitor has the same panel and specs as the VX192, but is presented in a slightly slicker looking 'professional' package. IMHO the VX looks fugly.

I havent seen anything on a release date for the VP192, but if you download the PDF brochure from Viewsonic the details for it are included.

If you cant wait, the VX192 is definately better than the 191.

The VP191 is a nice screen, but suffers from lots of motion blur....I found scrolling web pages really bad so returned it.

The LG1915S I have just bought is a little better, but still way off CRT's.

I've got a Dell 2001FP - think it's pretty good although does a dead pixel in one of the corners of the screen.

Ive just got an aria 17" jobbie - but its very good i think (for the money). Its got a 16ms response time so ive seen no ghosting whatsoever, colours all look good to me - only problem is 1 dead pixel, but at £130inc vat at the moment and considering tft's @ double the price could still have a dead pixel or 2 i think its fantastic value - go on get 2!!!

the vx range is fugly....yeah right.

I think you will find that most of the 16ms and under pannels are only 16.2m colour range and not the proper 24bit/16.7m colour range.

I know AG Neovo have updated there F-417 to 16ms with full 16.7m colours
