Got Painkiller Battle out of Hell expansion for xmas, using 4.12's I get gfx corruption, missing textures, missing objects. Had to turn off AA etc to stop CTD'S.

Game/Driver's made game to buggy to play any further lvl 5.

    Original Painkiller worked fine.

Thanks Andrzej, that's what I guessed. I've dawdled with all my updates over Christmas (still haven't installed SP2), but I suppose I can wait for the 5.1 release now?

So if I set my monitor to refresh at 85hz I will get 85 FPS with the vsync enabled?? Does it really work like that... sorry I'm not at home so I cannot try it right now. That would be counter intuitive to set a lower refresh setting and see an improvement.

If I have a refresh rate at 120HZ then I have 120 'slots' into which a screen image can be placed. Why not serve up those all 100-110 frames and make up for any shortfall with duplicate frames then nothing is wasted. Vsync is just waiting and discarding perfectly good frames. If a couple of frames are buffered thn frames could be sent to the monitor in sync. Vsync as it stands is a 50% performance hit because the method is not efficient.

But if you can get more than 120 frames constantly you it will sit at 120 fps... and they do tihs so that the image on screen isnt stopping and starting, but instead smooth all the time..
