Since I only got it at about 4pm yesterday afternoon, you'll forgive me for not having an article up yet. It seems some other website in the UK was seeded with this board before us....

Care to explain that, while I 'fawn' over Ms. Gellar?

There is a slim possibility that a paper publication full of creamy goodness may have decided to send it 'out of house' for testing because they were 'on deadline' - but that is really beyond my control

No, you are not imagining it...

...however, you (generic sense - includes 'other offices further south') did have the card days before that review went up

Now if only you decided to move to the big city

I guess the X800 is better than the 6600GT? It costs £45 more so by how much? And the big question is when can I buy one?

I have to say that 'better' is a very subjective word

Bear in mind that the first X800 products to hit the shelves will be the 'beefed up' 256MB versions

To answer the question of 'how this card performs compared to a top end 6600GT or entry level 6800 ?' you really need to wait for Rys and the guys to disect it

I have benched all of the cards in that market sector and - based on current pricing - I know exactly which card I would choose and how I would run it

With a set-up that probably 'fits' most customers (1280x1024 4x/8x), Hexus reported that the 6600GT can give you around 48fps in HL2, 29fps in Doom 3 and something like 25fps in FarCry *

If you have a 17" or 19" TFT and these are scores that you are happy with - then this is definitely a card you will want to consider...

...how that will stack up against an X800 - only time (and Rys) will tell

*If any of you think I am mis-quoting these numbers - please tell me - I want to be sure that they are accurate !

Well i suppose i really want it for the 256mb ram with 256 mbit thing, will this card be able to handle 256mb RAM or not like a 256mb cheapo card? (i guess it will)

Maybe - but the difference is the 'overhead' available in the memory compared to the core

The more pipelines you have - the greater the demand for memory (and memory speed)...

...cos these guys get hungry and want to be 'kept fed' !

GDDR3 with a 12 pipe architecture is a great balance... believe me

Again - depends on your viewpoint

With a core of 392MHz - that makes them about the same as a 6800GT
