dodgy graphics card?

hi i turned on my computer to get this, this morning

is this a duff graphics card or something else?

it took me 2 restarts to get it to go away, and it has done it once before.

the card is a 2 week old radeon 9700pro oem

u tryed using drivercleaner then reinstalling the drivers? or maybe the monitor is screwed ?

no, i got it from overclockers uk

the monitor is fine now, and ive never had any problems with it before

Is it overclocked at all, and its the cooler fitted correctly?

its not overclocked and its working fine now

i wouldnt think it could be overheating as it happened the first time tourned it on this morning

another thing tho it happend last time after i had run 3dmark01 se

No, you shouldn't; but bad ones slip through the net. May have become loose in transit.

Probably not - play doom3/HL2/far cry for an hour and then see what happens.

anything that'll stress the card really, and I'd say that MOHPA would do a good job of it

right ive bin playing nfus2 on full settings for a while and it plays totally smooth no artifacts or anything like that

I had exactly the same problem with my 9700 Pro, and then it died, big time. Either it's overheating or the memory is faulty.

Don't bother tryin' to solve it, send it back

Edit: Check it's all the way in the AGP slot and the contacts are clean as well but i still think it's a faulty card. Why it happens in some games and not others is due to not all games use all features, shaders etc...

If you RMA it though, use incomaptibility as the reason, it's just possible it may test ok for a short while if they test it out
