How many 64bit P4 systems are around at the moment? I can't believe ALDI are so on the ball. That PC is MENTAL at that price!!!
My mother just bought one of those ALDI PC's. I think anyone will be hard pushed to find a better deal, aldi have been doing these deals for years. At one stage a few years ago people where queing outside at 6am for the things. It was like a new sony console release, except it was outside Aldi in Shrewsbury. Back then the spec for the price was simply unbelivable, they were virtually giving them away. I bought one for £600 back then. I have been building PC's for years but could not spec one up for less than £1000 (I am still using one of the optical drives, mobo and HDD now). The deals are not quite as good now but still very good value. They must be sold at a loss TBO to promote the supermarket. It's a german make who also make the PC's for Toys R Us (cybermax), but they are never such a good deal there. It's even got WiFi, Blue tooth and tones of good software.
As for the radio, no the radio is on the digital freeview TV card (which has the TV in - TV out on the gfx card). The same card also has the modem on, it a OEM custom made card for Medion and can't be bought seperatly (i used to have an older version). It's like an all in one job and the cardreader etc seems to also plug into the card, but i have not worked out why. So is the motherboard which is pretty so so really. I say all that, but i am basing what i know on aldi's last pc model but i think its the same just updated
Works very well with the (not bad) software (easy for my mum) with PVR time shifting/recording etc. She can control music, DVD's, family photos, Freeview digital TV and radio from the actually pretty good remote control. Now she is thinking of getting a new widesceen and building a entertainment hub for the house, networked with her other PC and sharing broadband. Not bad for a 60 year old mum!!
Anyway, I thought the graphics card was just a rebranded x700 and was planning to take the cat 5.3 drivers around tomorrow. But is it something else? wish i had paid more attention when i was around at her house yesterday.
