    81.84 Forceware allows mixed SLI

    According to OCworkbench

So what is new in 81.84 ? Well, would it be something that is as special as what we brought to you before in ver 77.77, SLI without bridge. Well, you can think along that line. Version 81.84 brings more surprises as it not only add in new game titles, bug fixes, it also incorporate what its competitor have. That is, you can now use different branded cards (of the same core) and run them in tandem.

What does that mean ? Basically, it means that you already own a XXX brand, you can now upgrade to SLI by purchasing a YYY brand and plug in the SLI bridge. Everything will work perfectly. This was not possible in previous versions (as far as I know, unless you flash the same firmware into both cards).

This driver fixes some issues found on Release 75 drivers on Black and White including:
    - Performance slowdown on GeForce 6 and 7 series GPUs
    - Texture corruption on GeForce 6 series GPUs
    - Adds SLI profile for the best out of box experience

In addition this new driver also adds many new features for our GPUs that function properly and reviewers can immediately test including:
    - Increased performance for GeForce GPUs
    - SLI Mixed vendor support
    - Dynamic SLI with no reboot when using a single monitor
    - PureVideo and HDTV enhancements
    Intel i5 2500k @ stock
    Thermalright SI-128 (Bolt-through)
    Asus P8Z68V/Gen3

ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II 2Gb

Been testing 81.84 recently. I don't have mixed SLI so I can't speak for that, but they seem very stable so far. The dynamic SLI is a real boon for people with multiple monitors (like myself) also. Performance seems good, not benched it though (and don't have previous driver benches in any event).

I've been using 81.84 for a while now and found them to be pretty good, no problems with fps or IQ on games. As above, I haven't got mixed SLI but would be interested to hear of other peoples experiences. I'm playing with the idea of getting a 7800GT to replace my SLI 6600GTs (FEAR decrees it so!) so may have a play mixed cards when I pull my finger out and get it ordered.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
