    W00T! My X800GTO Overclocks!!!

    Hey guys,
Recently I got my Sapphire 256mb X800GTO and today I took the risk and decided to OC it. I used the trixx software with it, and put fan speed to 100% and it put my speeds at 540/470 and I got a huge boost! Before on HL2 with full AA and AF in stress test i got 64 FPS, now I get 82!!!! The only proiblem is, im not sure if the temps are safe or are not overheating. On desktop I get about 50C and when playing a game I get 80-85C Are these normal temps or should I put it back to stock speeds? Also, on 3Dmark05 I get 5085 W00T!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tried 16 pipes?

Temps on my 800x pro (547/567,12 pipes, had some interesting problems with the 16 pipe hardmod) are much cooler (70C max while testing for artifacts at 73% fan speed), but I think the x800pro stock cooler is better.

You might want to consider replacing the thermal material.

Regardless the GTOs memory should do much more than 470MHz.

Im sure only the GTO2 can do 16 pipes, am I right? I may buy a cheap watercooling kit for 60 quid which would be really good for overclcoking.

Which Sapphire X800GTO card do you have? If you have the X800GTO2 it will likely do more on both the core and MEM but the Trixx software will probably cap it at some point.,..likely a very safe point.

If you are worried about temps you should check them at full load but at stock speed. I’m guessing that 80-85C load isn’t too bad but I don’t have my Sapphire X800GTO2 yet so I cannot say for sure.

Dont forget to unlock it to 16 pipes if its the X800GTO2.

It's just the standard X800GTO, but I thiink i'm OK with the temps now, what temperature should I start getting worried?

i saw in a review that the ultimate [fanless] edition gets to 100C at stock settings so 85 should be ok

Really depends on how much you are overclocking. Even 100C probably won't hurt the card, but no way is it going to be stable with a really significant OC.

At 547 core on my x800pro, any temps over 71C make it unstable. At stock it's stable well into the 90s.

The faster you want it to run, the cooler it's gotta be.

Well, if it can play what you want it to play, the way you want to play it, that's what is important.

    Just an update.

I received my Sapphire X800GTO2 and performed the mod. It hits 540/590 with no problems and the core is usually in the high 40 ‘s or low 50’s in 2D (board temp in the 40’s). The core is in the 60’s (I think) when looping 3Dmark.

I think it will do 600/600 but I don’t want to push it too much yet.

    ***edit***

Actually, the Max temp so far is 72c.
