If he could stretch a little higher I would think about a 9800pro as I've seen them going for £50 on ebay these days.

Would be better than a 6200 and probably a 6600.

You should be able to get an ATI Radion 9600 pro or xt no problem for that price, but if you can get a 9800 pro so much the better.

There isn't much competition for that spot from Nvidia. The ti4600 (or 4800) is a good card, or you could get something like a 5700 (just make sure it's not the LE/VE/V version), the difference you'll get kind of depends on the rest of the system specs.

The 9700pro here is a pretty good deal. Unless you can get a secondhand 9800pro I don't think there is anything better for the money.

It is refurbished so 30 day garauntee. I Bought one for £160 two years ago and it is still serving me proudly playing WoW, Serious Sam2/CoD2 demos.

Can't answer that question without knowing what he wants to do with his PC.

Light (ie old) gaming you can go for an X700 or 9600 for around 40/50 quid and that will just about cope with CSS and HL2 but nothing newer really.

for about 60 quid you can get a decent 9800pro/XT (refurb) which will cope alot better and play all the latest games (even F.E.A.R!)

on the other hand, if he's not going to be playing any games, or its just lemmings/worms2 etc then go for a cheap and dirty 9200 or FX5200, around 20 quid these days
