im not saying that 3dmark means everythink, it just happens to be the benchmark from which i can do 1 search to pull up lots of results for different cards easily.
And i am saying that an overclocked 6800gs is better that a stock X850XT because it has about the same performance + shader model 3. and IMO the 6800gs is a better buy than the GTO2, but opinions differ

Explain to me how SM3.0 is a advantage worth talking about.

These cards will be to slow, to use it, in a modern game anyways.

Seeing as 99% of GT02's flash and clock to X850XT, the X800 is better. Like i said, you also get better AA/AF, better IQ, and better drivers.

6800gs overclocked will perform at an equal level to stock X850XT at stock so if a gto2 is flashed and overclocked to X850XT it will only have equal performance to the overclocked 6800gt, the shader model3 is just an added bonus really plus 6800gs's are readilly availiable where as gto2's are are very hard to get hold of. And the nividia drivers are more relible and updated more reguarly updated than the ati's drivers.
i think this is probably a bit of a pointless aurgument anyway as the gto2's were probably the best bank for buck when you could easilyish get hold of them now you cant and the 6800gs as come along and taken its place

Umm.. ehehe.. I think u've missed a little bit there, Catalyst drivers have their merits.. they are generally very stable and provides heaps of improvements every time released.

Also, Forceware releases are usually adding compatibility to new cards and pardon me for criticizing, but they usually dont fix the bugs they promise to fix..

Sometimes Nvidia's drivers are just bollocks.. sorry for being rude or anything..

*Also, arent we discussing between x1600xt and 6800GS?*

    Well said that man..
my original choice was going to be a GTO2 but i had my creditcard ready and they had dissapeared. so back to the drawing board
so presuming theres no "alternative" with best bang for buck (when o/c'ed) for the price than the 6800gs... now i just have to wait for one to pop up at a decent price

there is this for £122 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=96732

seems lots of people have had success unlocking pipes and overclocking.

But ebuyers is a little dodgy tbh... thats if u want to recieve the card before xmas (or all thru Jan for that matter).

If I recall, Scan stocks GTO as well.. but I would still lean towards a 6800GS XXX edtion for 50 quid extra

I just ordered £530 worth of stuff from ebay on the 11th, ordered it to come on the 13th, and it arrived..... on the 13th.

    Ebuyer seem good to me.

I don't multi-task much, but i bought it for the future, ill be keeping it for a long time.

I already get improvements with drivers. I love it tbh, it's probly the best CPU ive bought. Clocks easily to 2600mhz on air.
